Sometimes life just kicks you when you are down.
On Thursday last week my grandmother, Freda Howe, passed away, she had been ill for a couple of weeks, but nothing too serious and it certainly had not stopped most of us congregating at the care home she was staying, Hazelmere Lodge, for her 92nd birthday on the 6th July. However last week she was not well and whilst she seemed to be recovering on Wednesday, she deteriorated on Thursday and whilst I was still digesting this news and deciding whether to head over to see her, I had the phone call that she had passed on. My mother was able to spend the last hour with her before she died and really it was simply old age that got to her in the end. Clearing out her room at the care home over this weekend proved to be tough, many items bringing back memories of happier times
Thanks have to go to the carers and staff at Hazelmere lodge for looking after her for the 18 months she was there. Speaking to a number of them on Saturday they all spoke of how much they enjoyed talking to her as she was one of the more mentally sound residents and could more than hold up a conversation with anyone.
We will miss you Grandma.
