Ok this is getting beyond a joke.
It’s amazing how this country goes to pot when we get a small snowfall and it’s also hardly surprising when you get all these critics complaing that schools were closed on Tuesday when no snow fell.
If you look at the facts, the Met Office advised that there would be loads of snow, schools decided to take that information and rather than waiting until the last minute and close schools, giving parents no time to try and find some other option for the kids, announced as early as possible that they would close the schools. It then didn’t snow. Who’s at fault here, well my opinion is that no-one is at fault, the Met Office has their computers and they predicted snow, it didn’t happen, it’s not like they are always right….. If the schools had attempted to stay open and it had snowed and someone had been injured trying to get to school, those same outspoken individuals would have been calling for the head of whoever kept the schools open in the worst conditions for 18 years.
The complaints that came out seemed to suggest that it sent a message to kids that “if it’s all going horribly wrong stay at home”. Well I don’t know about them but it seemed to me that the kids didn’t stay at home, they went out and had a bloody good time outside. Thats away from the TV, Xbox and Playstation and doing something active. How long before someone suggests that councils should bring in snow machines to get kids active and prevent the spread of obesity, although of course someone is bound to outlaw sledging (I know a young girl was killed this week in a sledging accident and it really is sad…) because it’s dangerous, along with snowball fights etc etc etc.
Of course we are now in a situation where the councils are running out of grit and everyone is up in arms about how they could let it get this way. Can I point out how wrong the Met office got it on Monday night saying heavy snow and then nothing, and last night saying the worst we would have was heavy rain, well we had 3 inches of snow overnight. If the Met Office can’t get it right, the councils can’t plan correctly and at the end of the day this is a once in 18 year event, how can the council be expected to hold enough stocks of salt/grit to cope with this kind of event all the time. However what I do blame the council for is not reacting fast enough, out here in Berkshire, apparently the gritters didn’t get going until 5am today. Well my alarm went off at 5am and we already had over 2 inches of snow. You would have thought that someone might have looked out of the window!!!
Anyway for those of you who didn’t make it in to work today, enjoy it and those like me who managed it, well done for trying.
Sometimes people just drive me nuts!!!
Now I accept that everyone in the world has the right to their own opinion but this is just ridiculous.

To make complaints about a comedian doing a comedy version of a passage from the bible, hardly the most outragious thing on TV these days. It was a great sketch from one of the top comedians in the country as part of a performance for Prince Charles hardly contrevsial. However what we have in the country are groups of mindless individuals jumping on the bandwagon following the Ross & Brand incident, which lets face it only went as far as it did because people read it in the papers, apparently 10 times the original listeners to the show complained, can you get better publicity than contreversy???
Sometimes you do question people
It’s difficult when someone you consider a friend suddenly starts acting in a way that’s undermining you. Even more so when you are in a position to cause them a lot of trouble. For the time being I have decided to take the moral high ground and thus far things are fairly calm, however it does seem likely that it could go pear shape and the question is do I tell his wife???
I don’t believe it.
Yep this is going to be a bit of a Victor Meldrew post, adding probably a dash of “Why me” and a hint of “What did I do to deserve this”.
Anyway, what with everything else going on at the minute, the fact that the car I had bought 5 months ago was just about due it’s first MOT kind of crept up on me and it wasn’t until Saturday that I suddenly realised I needed to get it done within about a week. Anyway my local garage is pretty good and they were able to fit my car in on Monday. Now my thinking of how this process was going to go was obviously flawed, my view was that given it was it’s first MOT, nothing major would be a problem, I knew the tyres were fine as I had to replace one about 2 months ago due to puncture and all 4 were well within legal limits. So anyway when I phoned up to check what time I could pick up my car, the fact that it had failed it’s MOT threw me.
So the question on your lips is what did it fail on??? Well let me tell you,it had the wrong type of headlights, European not UK. Well my question to the guy on the other end of the phone was, “Huh???”. But in the end it boils down to this, Europe drives on the wrong side of the road and consequently their cars headlights dip on the left hand side, whilst in the UK they dip on the right. This means that I have been dazzling cars for the last 6 months!!!! Anyway to cut a story short, my Citroen garage confirmed that I would need 2 new headlights, £500 plus labour, yeah right!!!! The garage where they did my MOT were going to get me a quote. Thankfully I managed to get in touch with the garage who sold me the car and they remembered that when they had this car in it had two spare headlights, SIGH!!!! Anyway I am heading down there after work to get them, I am also going to try and get the garage to install them for me, I have already used in conversation with them the 3 words, Sold, Car and Illegal and will do so again. If nothing else fails my MOT people will install them for me on a labor only charge, so at least I am covered.
My old car was a pain in the arse, this new one has decided to pick up the baton!!!
Christian Ronaldo is a complete and utter twat
“I am a slave”, for fuck sake I mean grow up you mincing poser. You earn £100k a week, which is more than 99% of people earn in a year, you signed a contract, it’s that bit of paper that says how much you will earn and how long you agree to work for those people. I mean I can understand the attraction of wanting to leave a club thats not successful, I mean lets face it they only won their domestic league competition and also the highest club competition in the world, its not like they have millions of fans who put behind them the “Winking” incident of the World Cup 2006. I don’t like, actually hate is closer to it, Man Utd, but it they decide to stick him on the bench for 3 years or even in the reserves, I would almost consider a shift to a neutral feelings towards them.
Slavery, are you off your fucking rocker???
What a farce!!!
Yesterday was the first day that all us iPhone “want to owns” could pre-order from the O2 website, many of us had heard conflicting stories over whether or not we could upgrade, so just about everyone was going to have a go. In the end the 02 website just wasn’t up to the job, their work around was apparently to have some kind of fake order form people could fill out to kind of put them off. Now this pisses me off, firstly that they are trying to placate us with “fake forms” and secondly that this “fake form” asked for credit card information. Surely that is a clear incidence of phishing, asking for credit card details for services that you do not plan to give. Ok they haven’t (or at least I fucking well hope not) used any of these details for nefarious purposes, but still it’s wrong.
I was up until yesterday totally set on an iPhone and nothing was going to stop me, now I really don’t want to be with O2 and will look round at other options once I cancel my contract.
Product pricing gets ridiculous.
So I was in my local garage this morning and was dismayed to see that the offer of a 500ml bottle of Coke Zero for 69p had finally ended and it was back to its’ ridiculous price of £1.05. So in the end I grabbed a standard Diet Coke for 95p, quiet why the difference is beyond me but there you go. So anyway after grabbing that caffeine hit I wandered down to get some peach water which they sell in 2 sizes, 500ml and 1 litre. Now I always get the 1 litre, because hey programming is thirsty work and also because the 500mls are 65p yet the 1l is 83p no where near double the price. In recent weeks they have also been offering 2 x 500ml for 90p, so that’s 7p more than a single 1l bottle, however the offer now takes the biscuit.
The current offerings in the shop are as follows,
i) purchase a single 500ml bottle for 65p
ii) purchase 2 x 500ml bottles for 90p
or
iii) purchase a 1l bottle at the reduced price of 45p!!!!!
Is it just me or does someone need to review now they price their offers to make then worthwhile or at the very least so that they don’t overlap!!!
You know some people just take you for granted.
I don’t really want to make this a RANT post, but sometimes you just have to let off a bit of steam. For those of you that don’t know, my wife is having to go into hospital in the autumn to get a valve replaced on her heart, something that has been known about since she was a kid and they have now decided that they want to operate. Now this is not a minor op and she is going to be in hospital for at least 7-10 days recovering and then will need care at home 24×7 for another 14 days. So that’s basically 3 weeks when she needs care, which given that the hospital is in London means that visiting her each day is the other end of a 90 min train journey or staying in London overnight. But not to worry, I have worked for this company for 12 years, my wife also worked here for 17 years before she left, they will be sympathetic to my cause. Yeah right, apparently I might be able to get 2 days, one for the day of the op and one day to recover. Are they taking the Piss???? I think the answer is a resounding YES!!!
Sometimes I could just scream!!!
Picture the scene, it’s 3:30pm on a Friday and that means home time, it also means a race to get out of the car park before the queue builds and secondly a rush to get out of the car park before a certain slow coach who takes the same route as me and drives slowly. It’s bad enough when I get stuck behind her on the way into work, at least at that time of the morning (I start at 7am) I can overtake as there are hardly any cars, but at this time of the day I’m stuck until I can take a shortcut.
So anyway she’s ahead of me in the queue to swipe out, but I make it to my car and get my engine started and pull out just ahead of her. So I wander home, taking my usual shortcuts and end up hitting a set of traffic lights at some roadworks that weren’t there that morning. So what happens, I exit my “shortcut” and guess which annoying slow driver I f*&$ing pull out behind. No prizes for that one, so in the end I have to follow her to the end of my road before I can get out from behind her. Not the best way to start a weekend.
Ha de fucking Ha
Hmmm, posting as someone else out in the real world. I did it, got called on it, still sorry JW, and won’t do it again. So will the rest of you bunch of numb-nuts stop fucking doing it!!! Especially when you are doing it directly in my professional back-yard so to speak. It would be like someone posting on the Oxford Utd fan site that Chad really prefers Swindon, on DM’s band site that he’s been a closet Wham fan or Sdr Ldr saying that he likes Chunky Kit-Kats, actually I think he really does!!!
